Hi.

Here are some of my favorite adventures, photos and words. :)

Hope you have a nice stay!

Asheville

Asheville

It was the end of May and North Carolina was just beginning to loosen some of their Covid rules so we decided we all needed a hiatus from our day-to-days. Asheville is a great place to take a break! Our friends Mike and Roberta found a nice Airbnb, with a great back porch, just outside of town. We were close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and about 10 minutes to downtown.

On our way to Asheville, we stopped for lunch in Hendersonville and had some tasty BBQ at Flat Rock Wood Room. Once our bellies were full, we headed to DuPont State Forest and took a nice hike to Triple and High Falls. The weather was perfect and a lot of water flowing over the falls!

After enjoying the waterfalls, we headed for our Airbnb. We got settled in and ordered pizza from Asheville Brewing Company! We sat on the back porch and enjoyed some beer, ate and listened to the sounds of nature. We had a hummingbird frequenting the feeder and a deer made his way through the side yard. The Airbnb had a great assortment of books and Roberta decided we needed to have story time before bed, an excellent idea if you ask me!

The following day, we headed downtown for a late breakfast/early lunch. After searching for a place with a wait time less than two hours, we ended up Wicked Weed. We walked around downtown, took photos and enjoyed the unique atmosphere.

After exploring downtown, we headed back to the Airbnb. We wandered around the property and checked out the short trail our host was working on. He was very proud of it and even though it was very short, it seems like it will be very nice when he’s complete.

After relaxing for a while, we headed for the parkway. We went about 20 miles south and found a pull off not far from Mount Pisgah. We hung out in the grass for a while and then started to head back and found another pull off that gave us a great view of the sunset. The sun dropped below the mountains and we headed back for some dinner. Mike had been telling us about a place called Pack’s Tavern. He made it out to sound like really good food... and he was not wrong! I got the pot roast and it was DEE-LICIOUS! Good call Mike, good call.

Back to the Airbnb for bedtime stories with Roberta, some good laughs and then after a good night’s sleep, we packed up the car and headed 185 miles home. Until next time, Asheville.
