Hi.

Here are some of my favorite adventures, photos and words. :)

Hope you have a nice stay!

Growth

Growth

I decided this morning that I should carry around a voice recorder so I can later remember thoughts and ideas. I tend to have my best ideas in the morning when I’m listening to music, driving to work. While I still know the gist of my thoughts from this morning, I had it worded just right in my head and couldn’t get to my computer in time! Here’s my attempt to verbalize how optimistic I felt starting the day:

Miller and I must have been in need of a little extra sleep because we were both still snoozing when my alarm went off at 8am. I opened my eyes and could instantly tell I was well rested and in high spirits. It’s pretty easy to recognize this feeling because it’s not a common occurrence. When I hopped in the car to head to work, Chateau by Angus and Julia Stone was playing and it raised my spirits even more. I found myself being thankful for another day.

While sitting at a stoplight, a new Corvette pulled up next to me with a young man driving and a young woman in the passenger seat. I don’t know the story of how they came to be driving this beautiful automobile but honestly, in the past, I probably would have rolled my eyes and thought, “must be nice to take daddy’s car for a spin”. What a ludicrous response! This morning, I found myself smiling and being excited for them - what a fun way to spend the morning, cruising around with the top off! And if it was in fact theirs, congratulations on working hard and making such a sweet purchase.

So, I patted myself on the back after a moment of growth, one that I actually recognized. I also took the moment to remind myself that growth is usually in small increments and this was in fact something to celebrate. Who knows why in that situation I would respond in the old way but I made the decision today to make a change and that’s what truly matters.

While this is a MINOR example of growth, it is growth nonetheless. Change and growth can seem overwhelming because we tend to assume all changes are going to be on a MAJOR scale and happen quickly. When you scale it down, growth and change aren’t as scary and it becomes a bit more achievable.
