Hi.

Here are some of my favorite adventures, photos and words. :)

Hope you have a nice stay!

Day Turns to Night

Day Turns to Night

My first instinct is to critique the quality of my star photo. If we’re being honest, it’s subpar, at best. But then I remember, everything in life isn’t about getting the perfect shot! I tend to get caught up in making the photo the best it can be instead of simply existing in the moment. However, I found myself striking a healthy balance on this trip. For the star photo, I was using a new camera and I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to get things set correctly. Instead of getting frustrated, I simply turned my camera off, sat back in a chair and allowed myself to be mesmerized by the millions of stars staring down at me. If you want to be humbled and reminded how small you and your story are, just sit under a dark, dark sky. The camera will still be there next time.

Before we can even get to those magical night skies, we get to enjoy Golden Hour. Since we purchased the Southeastern Utah Parks Pass (seriously, buy it! $55.00 vs. $30.00/visit), we headed into the park near sunset. The air was cooling off and the red rocks were glowing, seeming as if they’d be too hot to touch, the brush glowing at their tips. The La Sal Mountains and plateaus in the distance turning shades of pink, purple and blue. Soon, all would be dark but until then we watched and felt the day fade away. If I continue, I’ll get far too wordy. Enjoy some photos instead.
