Delicate Arch

I understand Delicate Arch’s namesake but honestly, there’s not much delicate about the arch or the hike to! This incredible, free-standing arch has been worn by the elements for what, thousands.. millions of years? And yet, here it still stands in all of its glory!

Before we started the 3 mile round trip hike, I knew I was out of shape… the steady uphill climb made me very aware of this fact! Breathing heavily, stopping more often than I should have to at age 35, I kept pushing because I knew the reward would be worth it.

This is not new advice but I feel it’s important to reiterate: carry at least 2L of water per person, lather up in sunscreen (depending on the time of day, there is very little to no shade), layers are your best friend and most importantly, take your time. Listen to your body - it isn’t a race, unless you’re into that kind of thing! There is so much beauty all around. If you’re not careful, you’ll forget to lift your head and look around.
