Hi.

Here are some of my favorite adventures, photos and words. :)

Hope you have a nice stay!

New York City

New York City

I find myself thinking of NYC. In 2016, I went to Europe for the first time and Barcelona was my first BIG city experience. While Barcelona’s unique ebb and flow remains my favorite, NYC is a close second. Horns blaring, delicious food, unique people and places... Honestly, that list could probably go on forever.

While planning for our first NYC visit in 2017, I remember worrying I’d be overwhelmed by the number of people but the outcome was just the opposite! I may have looked like a tourist but I sure didn’t feel like one. Even after my first unique subway experience, I was confident in my ability (with the help of Derrick) to navigate the city!

And navigate we did! We stayed in Bedford-Stuyvesant during our first trip and in Fort Greene during our second trip. Both are located in Brooklyn so we utilized the subway system a lot. We ate at local cafes and corner sandwich shops, stopped by local bars and enjoyed football games at Steelers and Green Bay bars. We walked on the High Line, took in the different neighborhood vibes of SoHo and Chelsea, Chinatown and Little Italy. And of course we did the typical tourist things: Statue of Liberty, One World Trade, Times Square, etc.

My third “trip” to Brooklyn was this past March. We had a 10 hour layover at JFK on our way to Portugal so my friends and I went into the city for a few hours. We worked together and we easily navigated our way from the airport to the city and we enjoyed lunch at Dekalb Market Hall (many food options in one place) and then walked to Dumbo and the Brooklyn Bridge. It was the perfect way to kill some time!

Until next time, I will scroll through photos and dream of wandering around the massive concrete jungle.
